![]() In a thread named 'Lost Vikings', no less. And I'm saying this as someone who was technically groomed by leod on top of that. And yes, there have been posts specifically about the free re-release of The Lost Vikings and Rock'n'Roll Racing on the site. I don't support them, but I enjoy their art in a way they get no reward for it. People poisoned by Twitter/Tumblr think enjoying something made by a bad author is the same as actively supporting them and that's an opinion that happens a lot in those circles. But that decision applies to you alone and cannot be extrapolated to anyone else. If you don't feel comfortable watching, don't. The Lost Vikings is a good game from decades ago before Blizzard became what it is today (and before it was part of Activision) and there's no sense in raising any objection to raocow playing it based on its parent company. We should be lamenting that such a good piece met a bad master. My point is, if a quality work of art was produced by a bad apple, we should not be taking out the anger towards the artist on the art. The authors may have done something wrong, yes, but are you sure that this element of their souls was melted into this work? Not necessarily. Remarks like "you cannot separate them, their soul is ingrained into their work" just. I was shocked at how many people were so against this concept. During the VLCDX LP I checked video comments for the level made by the first "problematic" level author (the second such video had comments off, a good idea honestly). Some people might be treating "separate the art from the artist" as just some excuse, but I treat it as a serious and stern message. Separate the art from the artist, and all that. I just thought it was genuinely surprising that the game was chosen given how much Blizzard has been in the public spotlight for bad behavior. Just to be clear, I'm not saying raocow should stop playing The Lost Vikings.
